Meet Dr. Yost
Dr. Kenneth J. Yost ( Ken ) has been practicing dentistry in the Wilmington, Delaware area for 24 years. He was born and raised in the heart of Pennsylvania and attended Mahanoy Area High School, graduating Valedictorian of his class in 1980. While in high school, he had the opportunity to observe his own dentist on many occasions and he very soon learned that the artistry and creativity of dentistry interested him very much.
After High School, Dr. Yost attended Albright College in Reading, PA and earned a BS in Biology in 1984, graduating Magna Cum Laude. While at Albright, he developed an interest in all things science related and had great interest in Botany and Astronomy, worked in the college's green house and was a student teacher in Botany and Anatomy. Following graduation from Albright College, he immediately moved to Philadelphia and worked as a cardiac laboratory technician at the Children's Hospital of Philadelphia and continued to work there while attending the University of Pennsylvania School of Dental Medicine. At "Penn", he again was a student teacher in Histology, Anatomy, and Physiology. With much hard work, he graduated in 1988 in the top 10% of the class and won numerous awards in Prosthetic Dentistry.
Following graduation, Dr. Yost entered a general Practice Residency at the Medical College of Philadelphia, and received valuable training in Hospital based dentistry, rotating through all fields with medical students. It was here that he was introduced to the field of implant dentistry and was in one of the first classes to be trained in the Branemark technique. Single day hospital cases were the specialty and he worked with many well respected surgeons in the field, being exposed to all types of surgical cases from trauma to oral surgery. Following completion of the one year program, he was invited to continue on as a coordinator of the entire general practice residency for another year while the director was on leave.
In 1989, Dr. Yost moved to Delaware and worked in a group practice environment for 8 years; he then started his own practice and moved in 2008 into the current facility.
Dr. Yost is married to his very understanding wife, Patti, and has three children; Kerry 23, Bryan 21, and Sasha 6. When not playing with his young daughter, his hobbies include carpentry ( has his own work shop ), landscaping, Astronomy, and fishing ( when possible). He credits his father, a general contractor with whom he worked from the age of 14, for a strong work ethic and sense of perfectionism. He is actually well trained in all of the building trades and has totally renovated two houses in the past 10 years. That sense of perfectionism and caring has served him well in the practice of dentistry.
Dr. Yost is a current member of the ADA and Delware State Dental Society. He completes many hours of continuing education each year, and is devoted to keeping up with the ever changing advances in dental technology.
